Hello, you have reached the right place if you are wondering where to get the latest news from. We here at Windowsdaw take this business very seriously.
So, as you know, there was an event hosted by Amazon earlier this week. In case if you have missed it then we have got your back. Read this article to know more of it.
The Echo, Echo Dot, and Echo Show have gained the feature to make voice calls to numbers which are in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. And that too for free. If a customer wants to receive calls from regular numbers, then he will be required to get a new $35 Connect box that Amazon that was unveiled on Wednesday. This facility will allow the person to use a home telephone number for Echo calls and dial emergency services like 911 or the premium rate/international numbers.
It is no doubt a nice upgrade from the original version that had Alexa calling rolled out by Amazon. The limitation was that it only lets you call users who were Echo owners or people who had Alexa app installed and set up on their smartphone. But now one can just call anyone from their contact list or speak out a specific number to dial.
Once Alexa calling and messaging is set up, the mobile number is linked to the device. Then it will show up to recipients when it receives a call. It can be construed as odd because it lets the user call themselves with their own phone number from an Echo. There is an option to opt out of displaying the number. In this case, other people will view it as unknown caller” when the Echo rings them. Of course, when one receives a call from an “unknown caller “it can be a bit annoying.
There is a disadvantage too. The user won’t be able to dictate SMS messages with their Echo yet. Alexa’s messaging features and capabilities are still Echo-to-Echo for the moment.
